ASX Sharemarket Game

By Sandy Naidu | July 23, 2008

ASX website is an excellent resource for anyone interested in investing in shares. There is a registered section on the website. This section has the following resources:

1. Investment Clubs
2. Online Classes
3. Watchlist
4. ASX Schools Sharemarket Game
5. ASX Sharemarket Game
6. Email Newsletter

One of my goals for 2008, is to learn about investing in shares and to invest in shares. And so this website has been a frequent stop for me.

sharemarket-game Today, I signed up for the ASX Sharemarket Game. Registrations for this game are open from July 8 to August 5, 2008. The trading starts on August 7, 2008 and finishes on November 14, 2008.

At midnight on 6 August, you will be allocated $50,000 (not real money of course). You then use this money to buy and sells the stocks (stocks available in the game).

All the stocks are real life stocks and hence the price movements of these stocks is the same as price movements of the real life stocks. So it is basically like you investing in the real markets but not with real money. Should be fun and educative.

The final winner is the one with the highest portfolio value (provided this winner has followed all the rules of the game to get to that position). Once I start playing the game, I will write more about the game and will post regularly about my progress.

If your kids are in year 7 upwards, I recommend the ASX Schools Sharemarket Game. What better way than this to get them introduced to the fundamentals of sharemarket investing.
