Petrol Vouchers — Where To Shop To Get Your Fuel Discounts?
By Sandy Naidu | May 9, 2008
Petrol prices are rising and this is having a huge impact on all our pockets…A lot of merchants see an opportunity here and have come out with various types of fuel discounts if you shop at their stores…Here is a list of whats on offer..
Big Retailers
Woolworths: If you spend $30 or more in one transaction at any Woolworths/Safeway supermarket or Big W you save 4 cents off per litre, when you puchase fuel at any Caltex Woolworths or Caltex Safeway co-branded petrol outlet. You can save 8 cents per litre, if apart from $30 you also spend $5 or more at the Caltex Woolworths or Caltex Safeway co-branded petrol outlet.
Woolworths has launched a new electronic card called ‘Everyday Rewards’….You can get the card from one of the participating stores - Everyday Rewards. There are not many stores participating in NSW at the moment — infact there is not a single participating store around the area I live in…But I have been informed by Woolworths that more and more stores will start participating in the next couple of months.
The cards will allow your fuel saving offers to be stored electronically. So you don’t have to worry about losing the receipt any more…You have to redeem your e-voucher within 28 days of the date of issue. You can also link your card with the cards of other members in your family….
Coles: If you spend $30 or more in one transaction at any Coles , BI-LO, Kmart, Liquorland, Liquorland Express, Coles Central or Pick ‘n Pay Hypermarket supermarket you save 4 cents off per litre at any Coles Express service stations. You can save 6 cents per litre if apart from $30 you also spend $2 or more at the Coles Express service stations.
Coles Group Source Mastercard: If you use your ‘Coles Group Mastercard’ for your shopping at Coles, then apart from the regular 4 cents off a litre (for $30 or more spending), you also get an additional 4 cents discount per litre….So in total you save 8 cents per litre.
Other Petrol Vouchers Schemes
There are a few schemes where the participating retailers are mainly small business owners…I quite like these schemes because there are range of retailers (bakers, liquor stores, pharmacies etc) participating…At the moment the number of retailers participating is not very high…But I hope more and more retailers join these schemes - its after all the perfect response to the schemes run by big guns - Coles and Woolworths.
When you shop with the participating retailers, you are entitled to the voucher. You can then redeem your voucher at any participating petrol station.
Servo Savers Australia:When you spend between $5 and $50 you save 6 cents per litre for the first 30 litres. How much you have to spend to get the fuel voucher depends on the retailer… To find out who the participating retailers in your area are visit their website.
Save Smart:You get an electronic card..And every time you make certain (nominated) purchases from participating retailers, you earn points…You can redeem these points at a participating service station…For more information visit their website.
Beepp Beepp:This one is a bit different…You get ‘beepp’ cards when you purchase certain qualifying products at the participating retailers. Each card is worth $1. You use your cards at participating service stations…So if you use 15 cards then you get $15 off your fuel purchase. For more information visit their website.
Easy Fuel: Here as well you get an electronic card..And every time you make qualifying purchases from participating retailers, you earn points…You can redeem these points at a participating service station…For more information visit their website.
Financial Products Offering Petrol Discounts
BP Citibank Master Card: If you use this card for your fuel purchase at a BP station, then for the first three months you get a 10% discount (for a maximum fuel purchase of 300 dollars). After three months you get a 5% discount… For more information visit their website.
