Unit Prices For Groceries
By Sandy Naidu | August 2, 2008
The recent report released by Australian Bureau Of Statistics showed us how the grocery prices in all the cities has been rising. Whilst we acknowledge the work done by ABS, we honestly don’t need a report to tell us that. Our hip pockets have been feeling the heat for some time now.
Franklins, a major super market chain announced this week that they will be introducing unit pricing. This is good news - for shoppers at Franklins it is terrific news - for others there is hope now that the other major super market chains will follow suit.
Unit Pricing is the price of groceries per individual items. It gives us an accurate means of comparing the price of one brand with an other brand. How many times have we stood at the shopping aisle, trying to figure out which one is cheaper - a manufacturer can easily convey the impression that their brand is cheaper by bigger size packaging. Unit pricing will help us find the easiest goods, quickly.
Coles and Woolies about time you guys did something like this too…
