ATO claims that most returns will be processed and turned around within 14 days. You can file your tax return in one of the following ways:

1. Grab a tax pack from a newsagent and do your tax return yourself.

2. Get the help of a professional (tax agent).

3. Do it online - Visit ATO website and look for e-Tax. e-Tax makes filing your return very easy. All the calculations are done automatically and so there are no arithmetic errors. e-Tax has a Pre-filling initiative feature. This feature basically fills some of your details automatically - example: all dividend details are downloaded automatically, managed fund distribution details are done automatically, medicare benefit tax statement details done automatically plus a few more…Visit the website for more information.

And finally - don’t forget to sign your tax return. According to ATO, thousands still forget to sign before submitting.
